Florence H. Sulens

Florence H. Sulens, 90 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully 11:05 PM, April 7, 2015 at Autumn Health Care in Zanesville. She was born February 15, 1925 in Wheeling, WV the daughter of Lester Hunter and Dorothy (Carter) Hunter. She married Henry A. Sulens on June 19, 1948 and was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. Florence was a graduate of Stephens College and The Ohio State University. Florence retired following many years of service as a Case Manager with Muskingum County Job & Family Services. She was an active member of the Muskingum Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Ohio PERS, Beaux Arts and Pilot Club of Zanesville. She loved volunteering at the Muskingum County Welcome Center and as a Docent at the Zanesville Museum of Art. Florence looked forward to playing cards with her Thursday Bridge Club and enjoyed traveling the world. Florence is survived by her loving husband of 66 years Henry Sulens; three sons: Thomas N. (Bonnie S.) Sulens of Zanesville; Robert H. Sulens of San Diego, CA and Christopher H. Sulens of Zanesville; five grandchildren: Hillary (Adam) Kocoloski of Milton, MA, Michael (Nancy) Sulens of Zanesville, Jonathan R. Sulens of Zanesville, Neil (Katie) Bertrando of Reno, NV and Marc Bertrando of Reno, NV; three great granddaughters: Chloe, Sloane & Daphne Kocoloski; one sister: Dorothy Emile of Lincoln, Nebraska and many nieces and nephews including: Susan (Colin) Davis of Birmingham AL, Judy (Bob) Sharp of San Diego, CA and Elizabeth (William) Post of Lincoln, NB and Mark (Jacqueline) Emile of Logan, UT. In addition to her parents Florence was preceded in death by her daughter: Barbara A. Bertrando. According to Florence’s wishes no calling hours will be observed and a cremation with care will take place. Private family services to celebrate Florence’s Life will be held and she will be laid to rest in Zanesville Memorial Park.
