Gerald "Gene" Marshall

Gerald Eugene "Gene" Marshall, 89 of Zanesville, died 12:10 PM, Sunday, February 1, 2015 at The Oaks at Bethesda. He was born June 8, 1925 in Zanesville, the son of Foye Marshall and Elizabeth (Heintz) Marshall. He married Josephine “Jo” (Maniscalco) Marshall on Saturday, December 2, 1950 and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Gene was a veteran of the United States Army serving his country during WW II. He was in the PO Valley Campaign in Northern Italy which was fought from April 5, 1945 thru May 8, 1945. For his valor and service Gene was awarded a European-African-Middle Eastern (EAME) Campaign Medal with Two Bronze Stars. He retired from the Ohio Power company following 36 years of service. He also worked with his nephew in the family business of Adornetto's Pizzeria as a bookkeeper and cashier for many years. You could always count on Gene’s friendly smile as he handed you your pizza through the drive thru window. Gene was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 505, IBEW and an avid Ohio State Buckeye Fan. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Gene is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife of over 64 years, Gene is survived by one daughter: Lisa Ann & Dan Wampler of Mason; three grandchildren: Justin Wampler of Mason, Alissa Wampler of Tampa, FL and Danielle & David Culbertson of Columbus; one great granddaughter: Gabrielle Culbertson and one brother: Robert Marshall of Ft. Myers, FL. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by two brothers: Glen Marshall and Raymond Rogers. Per Gene’s wishes no visitation will be held and a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 10:00 AM, Friday, February 6, 2015 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 144 North Fifth Street, Zanesville with a Dominican Father as Celebrant. Gene will be laid to rest in Mount Calvary Cemetery with the United States Army and VFW Post 1058 conducting Full Military Honors.
