Janet M. Barry

Janet M. Barry, 92 of Zanesville, died 7:12 AM, Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Helen Purcell Home. She was born Sunday, January 18, 1931, in Toledo, the daughter of Lawrence Jacobs and Kathryn (Cinelis) Jacobs. She married William S. "Bill" Barry who preceded her in death, November 22, 2018. Janet was a very active and devoted member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Rosary Altar Society, and was very involved with Rosecrans High School. Known as “Pitty Pat” by those who most loved her, Janet was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, who was truly dedicated to her family, and the time she spent with them. She cherished the time watching and participating in all her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Her loyalty and commitment to those nearest and dearest to her was unwavering. Janet enjoyed her flower gardens, painting and spending time with many family dogs. She was a member of the Good Samaritan Charity Circle and Gift Shop. Janet spent many happy years as manager of The Sweet Station in the Freight Shops, always greeting the customers with Bloomer Candy. She also enjoyed delivering Meals On Wheels for many years. Janet is survived by four children, Teresa (John) Kinkead, Thomas V. (April Smith) Barry, Robert G. Barry and Ann (Phillip) Kane; one daughter-in-law, Joan Barry; sixteen grandchildren, Kate Young, Jaye (Kristin) Kinkead, Hillary (Jordan) Hatch, Briana (David) Jibson, Cyrus (Kenzie) Kinkead, Angela (Markus) Schuetz, John (Mary) Barry, Joshua (Jessica) Barry, Justin (Meghan) Barry, Christopher Barry, Danielle (Kolby) Knox, Nicholas Barry, Caroline Kane, Charlotte Kane and Will Kane; numerous great grandchildren; one sister, Rita Snider; two special care givers, Doretta Donley and Dottie Corson. In addition to her husband of over 65 years, Bill Barry, Janet was preceded in death by one son, Patrick W. Barry, and one granddaughter, Emma Barry. Friends may call Monday, April 17, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12 Noon, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 East Main Street Zanesville, where a Funeral Mass will follow at 12 Noon, with Fr. Jan C.P. Sullivan as celebrant. Janet will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
