Judy M. Lawter

Judy M. Lawter, 78 of Carroll, formerly of Zanesville, died 11:49 PM, Sunday, August 24, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Carroll. She was born Tuesday, January 7, 1947, in Athens, the daughter of Cedric Morrison and Virginia (Steiff) Morrison. She married the love of her life, John H. Lawter on Thursday, February 16, 1987, and was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Judy was a registered nurse for over 25 years providing compassionate and loving care to her patients. Judy, along with her husband, John enjoyed traveling throughout the county, camping, going out to dinner, puzzles and spending time with her family. She was an avid photographer enjoying the photos she captured. Judy was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Judy is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Scott) Graham-Weekley; one son, Dick (Twila) Graham; thirteen grandchildren, Renner Hittle, Allie & Sydney Clark, Danielle (MacKenzie Howe) Weekley, Karissa (Jack) Weekley-Thorne, Ashleigh Graham, Kaitlyn (Mason Curtis) Graham, Baylee Graham, Ashley (Jordan) Huck, Seth (Amber) Mayle, Amanda Foley, Sierra Mayle, and Austin (Liz) Mayle; two great grandchildren, Rowan Shae Crosby Graham and Krew Curtis; one nephew, Joseph Steiff; a former daughter-in-law who Judy thought of as her own daughter, Jennifer Swartz and a special four legged family member, Cedric Allen. In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Lawter, who died October 30, 2019, and one brother, Billy Joe Steiff. The family would like to give a special thanks to Jennifer Swartz for the care and love given to Judy during her illness and Homer and Nancy Weekley for their love, care and compassion. Friends may call from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the Hillis Combs Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, where the Mid-East Ohio Nurse Honor Guard will perform their Nightingale Tribute.
