Kathleen M. Shawger

Kathleen M. Shawger, age 68 of Zanesville, died unexpectedly at 2:42 PM, Sunday, November 5, 2017, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. She was born Friday, August 5, 1949, in Bridgeport, CT, the daughter of John Brady and Alberta (Brennan) Brady. She married her High School Sweetheart, Jeffrey Shawger on Saturday, August 2, 1969. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church where she was very active serving as a Eucharistic Minister and singing in the Resurrection Choir. She was a 1967 graduate of Bishop Roscrans High School. Kathleen retired from Century National Bank after over 30 years in banking. She volunteered her time to the Genesis Hospital through the Charity Circle, Mended Hearts and as a hospital volunteer, along with the Children’s Conservation League and Ladies of the Lake. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Kathy gave the gift of life through being an organ and tissue donor. In addition to her husband she is survived by three children, Chad (Jane) Shawger of Nashport, Kyle Shawger of Cincinnati, and Ashley (Kevin) Jones of Hopewell; 10 grandchildren, Alyssa, Katie, Ty, Jessica, Kane, Lakyn, and Saige Shawger and Brennan, Gabrielle and Emma Jones; one sister, Beth (Tom) Brandon, and one brother, Jack (Holly) Brady all of Zanesville; Sisters-in-law Susan Baltzer, Nancy (Jim) Arnold, Molly (Bob) Haslam, Brothers-in-law, John (Bonnie) Shawger, Jim (Marge) Shawger, Mike Shawger, Tom (Tara) Shawger and several nieces, nephews, many friends and her beloved dog Mia. She was preceded in death by her parents; her father and mother-in law, Richard Shawger and June Fountain Shawger and step father-in law, James Fountain. Friends may call from 2 to 4 PM & 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville where a christain vigil will take place at 7:45 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church 1020 East Main Street, Zanesville with Father Martin Ralko as celebrant.
