Mrs. Margaret A. Perine

Margaret A. Perine, 88 of Zanesville, OH, passed away peacefully at 5:50 AM Monday, September 16, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her family, following a six month illness. She was born Thursday, April 2, 1925 in Zanesville, the daughter of Fred Pfeifer and Mary (Silvus) Pfeifer. Margaret was a devote Catholic and a women of great faith. Margaret was a 1943 graduate of St. Nicholas High School and in 1945 was the Zanesville Times Recorder Bathing Beauty of the Week. In 1947 she married the love of her life and husband for over 29 years, the late Clyde E. Perine. In her early years she was employed by Ohio Bell Telephone Company as an operator, a job she deeply enjoyed. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was a remarkable cook. Cooking and spending time with her family meant the world to her. She also enjoyed spending time with her lifelong friend of 82 years, Gertie Bell. Margaret is survived by three children: John Perine of Zanesville, Susan (Perine) O’Reilly of Oxford and Ron Perine of Zanesville; five grandchildren: Jenny (John) Finberg of Colorado Springs, CO, Charlie (Sarah) Perine of Ft. Wright, KY, Sean O’Reilly and fiancée Jo Ellen Courtney of Sidney, Australia, Kelly (Jesse) Kanitz of Dublin and Travis Perine of Zanesville; three siblings: Jack Pfeifer of Bradenton, FL, Jerry Pfeifer of Zanesville and Mary Lou (Harold) Roessler of Zanesville and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband: Clyde Perine who passed away in November of 1976; one son-in-law: Tom O’Reilly; five siblings: Robert Pfeifer, Gertrude Long, Walter Pfeifer, Rita Winters and Elinor Staley. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6:00 to 8:30 PM Thursday, September 26, 2013 at The Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. Margaret will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband: Clyde at 11:30 AM, Friday, in Wesley Union Cemetery, White Cottage with Fr. Martin J. Ralko officiating.
