Martha Jane Carpenter

Martha Jane Carpenter, age 92, of Zanesville, passed away at 1:55 PM, Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Clay Gardens Place in Zanesville. She was born Tuesday, July 29, 1930, in Zanesville, a daughter of Francis Dosch and Hilaria (Mehling) Dosch. She was married on Saturday, June 24, 1950, to Paul Carpenter who preceded her in death on Sunday, October 23, 2011, after 61 years together. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and was a homemaker and worked at the St. Thomas School Cafeteria as a bookkeeper. Martha was a member of the St. Thomas Rosary Altar Society, volunteered at St. Thomas Parish, and was active with the Knights of Columbus. She enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, reading, playing cards and doing puzzles, but most of all, spending time with her family. Martha was a loving mother and grandmother who had a strong faith that guided her life. Martha is survived by nine children: Doug (Bobbi) Carpenter of Plain City, Becky Raymond of Canal Winchester, Susan (Hugh) Maxwell of Zanesville, Linda Sibert of Coshocton, Carol ("Rookie") Cooperrider of Newark, Barbara (Karl) Durst of Grove City, Tom (Vanessa) Carpenter of Salem, VA, Bob (Betty) Carpenter of Zanesville and Mary (Doug) Tyo of Zanesville; 36 grandchildren and 76 great grandchildren; her siblings: Monica (Joe) Tumeo of Defiance and George Dosch of Columbus; three sisters-in-law: Bernie Dosch of Grayling, MI, Pat Dosch of South Bend, IN and Mary Lou Dosch of Zanesville, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sons-in-law Marty Raymond and Ron Sibert, brothers and sisters, Paul, Howard, Harry, Ralph Dosch, Sr. Miriam Dosch, Mark, and Johnny Dosch; sisters-in-law: Linda Dosch, and Ginny Dosch. Friends may call from 1 to 3 PM & 6 to 8 PM on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville where a rosary service will be held at 7:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM on Monday, November 21, 2022, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 1020 East Main Street, Zanesville, with Fr. Jan C. P. Sullivan as celebrant.
