Mary Corder

Mary E. Corder, 79 of Zanesville, died 9:00 AM Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Genesis Good Samaritan ER following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born Thursday, August 06, 1931 in Zanesville the daughter of Shorty Newell and Helen (Bowers) Newell. She married Robert E. Corder, Sr. on Saturday, October 2, 1948 and was a dedicated and faithful member of Cornerstone Full Gospel Church for over 25 years. Mary was a member and past president of Muskingum AFL-CIO and was very involved in all labor unions in the area. She was an advocate for purchasing items only made in America. Mary served as President of the Essex Wire Labor Union and retired from Essex following over 37 years of service. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed caring for her family. She was a friend to all who met her and cared greatly for others.. Mary is survived by two children: Cynthia (Lloyd) Dunlap of Zanesville and Randall Lee (Michele) Corder of New Concord: Ten grandchildren: Justin & Dianna Corder, Cynthia Dunlap, Robert E. ‘’Bobby’’ Corder III, Christopher Humphrey, Brian Humphrey, Chad Humphrey, Mary Corder, Heather Corder, Crickett Estrada and Monica Abbott; and several great grandchildren including: Kenny Humphrey, Olivia Corder, Abby Nethers and Jillyan Dunlap; one brother: Jr. Newell of Gaysport; one sister: Daisy Wigginton of Kenosha, WI; one half-sister: Donna May Bowers of Fl and special friends: Wanda Barrett, Ruth Niceswanger, Annie Peirce, Shirley Zumbro, Pete & Vern Pappas, Ray & Marylin Touvell and Max the dog. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband: Robert E. Corder, Sr.; one son: Robert E. Corder, Jr.; one daughter: Christine Humphrey; two grandsons: Kenneth Humphrey and Kevin Archer Dunlap: one great grandson: Casey Morrison and one brother: Cecil Newell. Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, January 28, 2011 at The Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue with visitation one hour prior to services from 10:00 Am till 11:00 AM Saturday at the church. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, at Cornerstone Full Gospel Church with Pastor Steve Harrop officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park.
