Thomas "Tom" W. Trott

Thomas "Tom" W. Trott, 83 of Zanesville, died Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Genesis Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born Friday, November 24, 1933 in Cambridge, the son of Peter Trott and Juanita (Timms) Trott. He married Judith "Judy" A. (Hannum) Trott on Saturday, June 28, 1958 and was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Tom was especially proud of his service in the United States Navy - making multiple cruises throughout the Mediterranean and the Caribbean Seas. Tom had multiple hobbies and passions in his life. He was a computer aficionado before that term existed, an avid reader, accomplished home chef, gardener, photographer, civil war historian, and genealogist. These hobbies and passions paled in comparison to his passion for his family. His devotion to his wife is one of the greatest gifts to his children - demonstrating the meaning of commitment and marital happiness. He set a high standard of fatherly love for his four children and six grandchildren - being a constant source of encouragement, pride, and enthusiasm. Tom also leaves a memorable legacy for his entire family in that he showed them that there are many wonderful ways to be a dad - make people laugh, make them delicious food to eat, and always be there for them. Tom is survived by his wife of over 58 years; four children: Tim (Carolyn) Trott of Matthews, NC, Teresa (Don) Wagner of Granville, Melissa (Eric) Hildreth of Hartselle, AL and John (Kris) Trott of Columbus; six grandchildren: Alex & Ian Trott, Jenna Wagner, William & Marshall Hildreth and Seneca Trott, his sister-in-law Sue Malone and several nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and one infant daughter: Amy. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, March 3, 2017, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, where a Christian Vigil will be held at 7:45 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 4, 2017, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 955 East Main Street, Zanesville, with Fr. Martin J. Ralko as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery with full military honors prenested by the United States Navy, VFW Post 1058 and American Legion Post 29.
