Mary Ann Fox

Mary Ann Fox, 88 of Zanesville, died 2:59 PM, Monday, August 14, 2017, at Genesis Morrison House Hospice surrounded by her family. She was born Tuesday, December 4, 1928, in Zanesville, the daughter of William J. Hempfling and Kathryn (Gonder) Hempfling. She married Ronald “Ron” F. Fox on Thursday, November 20, 1969. Mary Ann was a dedicated and faithful member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church where she served on the funeral luncheon committee and enjoyed being the seamstress for the priest. Mary Ann was a talented seamstress, made drapes with Worthington Interiors, worked with Dutro Auto Parts as a bookkeeper and was an instructor with the Family Life Program with Zanesville City Schools teaching homemaking skills. Mary Ann was a Genesis Hospice Volunteer. Mary Ann was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother who dearly loved her family. Mary Ann is survived by her husband: Ron Fox; one brother: James (Mary Lee) Hempfling of Elyria; five sons: Robert J. (Karen Martin) Swingle of Zanesville, Lawrence “Jay” Swingle, of Adamsville; Robert A. Fox of Salt Lake City, UT, Ronald D. Fox of Snowflake, AZ and Kenneth R. (Alice) Fox of Nashport; four daughters: Kathryn A. Rausch of Cambridge, Mary Beth (Ron) Gildow of South Carolina, Roni (Jon) Fox of Philo and Ellen Jane (Bob) Worstall of Zanesville; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her first husband: Robert J. Swingle; two sons: Jonathan & David Swingle; four siblings: Sally & James Boetcher, Nancy & Nick Gialdini, William & Rosemary Hempfling and Michael Hempfling Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, August 17, 2017, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 10:30 AM, Friday, August 18, 2017, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 144 North Fifth Street, Zanesville with Fr. Jan C.P. Sullivan as Celebrant.
