Daniel A. "Dan" Joseph, age 63 of Colorado Springs, CO formerly of Zanesville, died Monday, February 17, 2014 at his residence following a sudden illness. He was born Sunday, March 12, 1950 in Zanesville, the son of William G. and Romaine C. (Arnold) Joseph. Dan was a veteran of the United States Air Force proudly serving his country. He retired following over 30 years of service with the United States Department of Defense. Following his retirement he continued his service to his country with the Department of Defense. Dan was an avid sport fan following football and hockey. He was a lover of the outdoors and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson. Dan was a loving and caring father, grandfather and brother and enjoyed spending time with his family. His plans had been to move back to his hometown of Zanesville, following his second retirement in April. Dan is survived by five children: Jennifer (Scott) Simison of Circleville, Kristina Joseph (Michael Eaton) of Harrogate, England, Scott (Nicole) Joseph of Bakersfield, CA, Keith Joseph of Colorado Springs and Danielle Joseph of San Diego; six grandchildren: Alayna & Elise Simison, Cyrus & Rowan Eaton and Charlotte & Lilian Joseph; eleven brothers and sisters: William (Mary Ann) Joseph of Dublin, Jane ( Chuck) Durant of Austin, TX, Jeff (Donna) Joseph of St. Mary’s, GA, Carol Buchanan of Chandlersville, Ellen (Doug) Winland of Zanesville, Dave (Marsha) Joseph of Tell City, IN, Tom Joseph of Seattle, WA, Beth (Bruce) Iden of Zanesville, Doug (Kelly) Joseph of Zanesville, Steve (Amy) Joseph of Adamsville and Erin (Howard) Frye of Zanesville; five aunts & uncles: Carol May, Karen (Andrew) Lang and Jerry (Theresa) Arnold all of Zanesville, Carl (Helen) Arnold of Indianapolis, IN and Dr. Gene (Billie) Arnold of Sunbury; many nieces, nephews and old friends: Bill Sullivan and Joe Foster. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville where Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Monday.
