Mary Lou Dosch

Mary Lou Dosch, 86, of Zanesville, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024. Mary Lou was born November 28, 1937, in Zanesville, the daughter of Joseph and Della Prestanski. She was a graduate of Rosecrans High School and a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She married Ralph J. Dosch on October 26, 1957, and together they raised five sons, Frank (Amy), Ted (Ann), John (Penny Warehime), Pete (Kris), and Mike (Danya). She was very proud of her 15 grandchildren, Jared, Lacey, Justin, Ross, Joe, Amanda, Patrick, LeAnne, Megan, Brandi, Levi, Shawn, Emily, Kaitlin, and Jake, and her 26 great-grandchildren. Before starting her family, Mary Lou worked at Ohio Power for three years. Then a truly selfless life began. She was a fulltime homemaker and volunteered for many years at the St. Nicholas School library. From the family’s large garden and small orchard, she would can and freeze to provide through the next season, and then begin again. A lifelong caregiver, through the circle of life, she cared for her children, helped with her grandchildren, then her parents, and finally for her husband Ralph during his last few years. Ralph died December 8, 2016, and they are finally reunited for countless more games of Cribbage and watching Jeopardy together. In addition to her husband, Ralph, she was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Della Prestanski, father-in law and mother-in law, Francis and Hilaria Dosch, brother, Joe Prestanski, Jr., and brothers-in-law, Paul Dosch, Howard Dosch, Harry Dosch, Mark Dosch and Paul Carpenter, and sisters-in-law, Bernie Dosch, Ginny Dosch, Sister Miriam Dosch, Linda Dosch and Martha Carpenter. She is survived by her brother Harry (Jeanene) Prestanski, sisters-in law, Pat Dosch and Monica (Joe) Tumeo, and brother-in law, George Dosch, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the caring staff at The Oaks at Bethesda for Mary Lou’s wonderful care these last several years, as well as the staff at The Morrison House for making Mary Lou’s transition to heaven a peaceful and pain free journey. Private calling hours will be held at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30th, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 East Main Street, Zanesville, with Fr. David Young as celebrant. Mary Lou will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Ralph, in Mt. Olive Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bishop Rosecrans High School, 1040 E.
