Rosemary C. Sullivan

Rosemary "Rosie" C. Sullivan, 94 of Zanesville, died 2:06 PM, Friday, January 19, 2024, at Helen Purcell Home in Zanesville. She was born Monday, July 22, 1929, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Harold J. Floss, Sr. and Margaret (Rumel) Floss. She was married on Saturday, November 19, 1949, to William J. Sullivan, Sr. who preceded her in death on Thursday, July 24, 1986. She was a longtime member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Rosie was born in Chicago and was raised and educated in the Catholic Schools of Chicago. Rosie was employed at Illinois Bell before relocating to Zanesville, in 1960 with her family. She worked in the cafeteria at St. Nicholas School retiring in 1970 as Cafeteria Manager. Following her retirement she worked as a Ward Secretary in the OB unit with Good Samaritan Medical Center until 1985, and for Dr. Othello Repuyan, M.D. for 9 years. She was a proud member of the Good Samaritan Charity circle and the Greater Zanesville Singers. Rosie was a gracious loving lady who never met a stranger. She was a dedicated and caring wife, mother and Nana to her family. Rosie is survived by three sons: William J. (Pat) Sullivan, Jr. and Thomas H. (Martha) Sullivan both of Zanesville; and Kevin M. Sullivan of Newark; seven grandchildren: Jenny (Jason) Combs, John Sullivan, Erin (Nick) Ritchey, Bill Sullivan, Kevin Sullivan, Jr., James Sullivan, Sr. and Brianna (Zach) Clapper; ten great grandchildren; and one brother, Bob Floss of LaGrange, IL; sisters-in-law, Donna Floss, Lucille Floss, Caroline Floss and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” J. Sullivan, Sr., who died on July 24, 1986; one son, Brian Patrick Sullivan who died Nov. 29, 1974; one daughter-in-law, Marguerite Sullivan; siblings, Lorraine Kolo, Bill Floss, Harold Floss, Jr., George Floss, John Floss and Gene Floss. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Helen Purcell Home and Genesis Hospice for the exceptional loving care Rosie received. Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, where a Prayer Vigil will take place at 7:45. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 East Main Street, Zanesville with Fr. Martin Ralko officiating.
